Volumetric apparent diffusion coefficient histogram analysis for determining the degree of differentiation of periampullary carcinomas

چکیده
Background/Aim: The classification of periampullary adenocarcinomas into pancreatobiliary-type adenocarcinoma and intestinal-type (PPAC IPAC, respectively) has gained significant acceptance in the medical community. A patient's prognosis is determined by degree differentiation these tumor types. objective present investigation was to assess efficacy volumetric apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) histogram analysis assessing for two Methods: This retrospective cohort research evaluated 54 PPAC (45 well-differentiated nine poorly differentiated) 15 IPAC (11 four patients. Magnetic resonance imaging (1.5 T MRI) scans were used evaluate results. features ADC values computed incorporated several statistical measures, such as mean, minimum, median, maximum, percentiles addition skewness, kurtosis, variance. Results: In both patients, exhibited lower differentiated group when compared with group. However, changes between groups did not reach significance. Among had a larger kurtosis (P=0.048). calculated value area under curve (AUC) be 0.818. When threshold set at 0.123, specificity sensitivity observed 90% 75%, respectively. Conclusion: Our indicates that an effective indicator determine level differentiation. Analysis increased b can provide valuable insights help using noninvasive technique.

Exploring the Possibility of Estimating Degree of Glioma Tumors by Measuring Apparent Diffusion Coefficient
Introduction: Most common glioma tumors are tumors of the central nervous system (CNS) which are the cause of about 40 to 50 percent of brain tumors. This type of cancer includes 2 to 3 percent of cancers in the world. Conventional MRI is powerless in the detection and differentiation of benign and malignant tumors. In this case, diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) can create cont...
متن کاملA Whole-Tumor Histogram Analysis of Apparent Diffusion Coefficient Maps for Differentiating Thymic Carcinoma from Lymphoma
Objective To assess the performance of a whole-tumor histogram analysis of apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) maps in differentiating thymic carcinoma from lymphoma, and compare it with that of a commonly used hot-spot region-of-interest (ROI)-based ADC measurement. Materials and Methods Diffusion weighted imaging data of 15 patients with thymic carcinoma and 13 patients with lymphoma were ...
متن کاملApparent diffusion coefficient histogram analysis can evaluate radiation-induced parotid damage and predict late xerostomia degree in nasopharyngeal carcinoma
We investigated apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) histogram analysis to evaluate radiation-induced parotid damage and predict xerostomia degrees in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) patients receiving radiotherapy. The imaging of bilateral parotid glands in NPC patients was conducted 2 weeks before radiotherapy (time point 1), one month after radiotherapy (time point 2), and four months after r...
متن کاملHistogram Analysis of Apparent Diffusion Coefficient in Differentiating Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma and Neuroendocrine Tumor
The aim of this study was to investigate whether histogram analysis in diffusion-weighted (DW) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can help differentiate pancreatic adenocarcinomas from neuroendocrine tumors.Sixty-four patients with histologically confirmed 53 pancreatic adenocarcinomas or 19 neuroendocrine tumors underwent DW MRI. We evaluated the pixel distribution histogram parameters (mean, sk...
